TEXAS ARTIST PLANS TRIBUTE TO KERRVILLE FLOOD VICTIMS
On July 4, 2025, an unspeakable tragedy occurred in the hill country in Kerr County. Before dawn, in less than an hour, heavy rains caused flash flooding on the tranquil Guadalupe River, with waters quickly rising up to 36 feet. Many people who came to the area to celebrate the holiday were caught off guard and lost their lives. In Kerr County alone, 119 people perished in the flood, ages 1 to 91. They were all caught off guard by the “once in 500-year flood”.

Professional sculptor, David Broussard, of Canton, Tx has created a unique three sided, four foot tall Cor-ten steel Maquette sculpture called “River Of Angels Cross” featuring 119 stainless steel guardian angels flying upwards with the spirits of the departed. Broussard is hoping to build a 16 ft version of the Maquette and place it in The Coming King Sculpture Prayer Garden which is located in Kerrville. He believes God gave him this design to bring healing to the many families who lost loved ones that fateful day. The Cor-ten steel cross will weather to a beautiful reddish patina and will be a beautiful background and contrast for the silver stainless steel angels, each one being unique.
Trustees of The Coming King Foundation (TCKF) have agreed to accept Broussard’s symbolic memorial gift, which will be erected at the entrance to the massive “Hill Country Flood Memorial Wall”. This limestone undulating wall was built to honor the flood victims, first responders and volunteers with bronze plaques of different sizes. Broussard’s new cross sculpture will be added to the dozen monumental sculptures currently on display throughout the garden. David Broussard is one of only three internationally collected artists whose sculptures are on permanent display in the spiritual art garden.
To make the “River Of Angels” cross a reality in the garden, Broussard hopes to quickly raise $80,000 to cover all the costs. This will insure the cross is installed by July 4th, the 1st anniversary of the flood, which will draw thousands to the garden that weekend.
Tax deductible “Dedicated Donations” can be given to TCKF which was founded in 2004 as a 501c3 non-profit “Art Museum.
