The image depicts the most famous Jewish symbol, the Star of David. There is a texture of rippled sand, depicting the 40 years that Israel dwelt in the Presence of God in the desert.
Notice the cross of Christ as an integral part of the Star, symbolizing the grafting in of the church to Israel. Neither can be complete without the other. Each part supports and strengthens the other equally. The ancient Rabbis have identified 613 commandments in the Torah, the five books of Moses.
This sculpture takes the image to another level. Incorporating 613 nails to form the cross, the connection is made with each of the commandments found in the Torah to the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Who died for our breaking every one of the commandments given by our Heavenly Father to Moses at Sinai.
The color of the steel is derived by tremendous amounts of heat being applied just at the right time. Far from weakening the steel, the fire purifies and brings strength, diversity and beauty, much like the fiery trials of each one of His chosen people.
