The horizontal cross bar  has 15 pieces of steel on each side, symbolizing the 30 pieces of silver that Judas was paid to betray Jesus. The vertical bar has five pieces of steel.

The number five represents Grace. God turns what is meant for evil into good for those who love Him. It is horrible that Jesus was betrayed and crucified, but that was the purpose of His coming to earth. Without His death and resurrection, we could never be brought back into relationship with the Father. So you see, what was meant for evil actually turned out for the good of mankind. ©David Broussard
